Arturo, “the world’s saddest polar bear,” has died. He was almost 31 years old & had spent over 20 years of his life suffering in a bleak, concrete enclosure (often in the sweltering heat) at the Mendoza Zoo in Argentina.

People called Arturo “the world’s saddest polar bear” because of the years he spent suffering alone in the Argentinian heat. But from elephants swaying alone on concrete floors to bears pacing & biting the bars of barren cages, sadness remains on display in unnatural enclosures at zoos around the world. PETA urges families to honor this polar bear’s heartbreaking legacy by refusing to give a dime to any business that puts animals on display for human entertainment.
